Bright Hair

The top picture is from Halloween 2009. I used hot pink and orange colored hairspray for that, but I have to admit the pink was fun!

The bottom picture is terrible quality since I was taking it with my phone in a mirror…and it’s the only picture I can find from when my hair was like that! Spring 2010 the entire bottom half of my hair was neon orange and I loved it! My hair was bright orange twice when I was in 8th grade as well – once just the tips, and once the whole top layer.

Bright Hair

I have been thinking more and more about doing bright colors again lately. I’d do it like the bottom picture. I love the orange but have been also thinking about hot pink or maybe even purple…although I’m definitely more inclined towards the pink or orange than purple.

New Nail Polishes! Haul and Manicure

New Polishes

After about two months, I bought some beauty products! In addition to two Wet n Wild palettes, I picked up these two nail polishes. I had planned on getting the glitter, but the blue was on clearance and I’d been looking for something similar. I got everything at Target. The glitter is Milani Gems and the blue is Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Blue-Away.

I was so excited about the Gems that I knew I wanted to use it right away, and since I’ve never used the Insta Dri line from Sally Hansen I figured I’d try that one at the same time! I like the way they look together, but I think that Gems could be paired with just about any color and be amazing. I would also wear it by itself. This manicure was two coats of each polish.

I swear my hair isn’t as crazy as it appears in this picture! It’s actually in a bun and the top of it is sticking up at the back, it’s not just the top of my hair being lumpy, I promise.

4th of July Look

For my eyes, I started with the Palladio eye primer, then put the NYX jumbo pencil in Milk on the lid and the one in Cherry on the crease. I used the white shadow from the Covergirl Drama Eyes quad on the lid and the NYX single eyeshadow in Cherry over the red. I used the Milani Infinite eyeliner in Infinite and Covergirl Lashblast waterproof mascara in Glam Black.

4th of July Manicure : All China Glaze

Since the colored polishes I was using were all China Glaze, I figured I may as well use the base and top coat from them as well.

The colors I used are Frostbite (regular collection), Ruby Deer (Holiday 2010), and Lightning Bolt (crackle).

After the basecoat, I did two coats of the red stripe followed by two coats of the blue stripe. I had very little waiting time because I was sitting in front of a fan while doing this. I didn't pay any attention to staying within the nail because I was more concerned about making the diagonal line straight without overlapping. I then topped it off with the crackle polish.

I gave the crackle a few minutes to finish crackling and dry, then topped it with two coats of the Fast Forward topcoat. Once that was dry I went around the edges with my $1 ELF eyeliner brush dipped in 100% acetone to clean them up. So much cleanup was needed that the acetone in the cup I was using was completely purple by the end - which goes to show that you don't have to have particularly steady hands to end up with a neat-looking manicure.

Combined Outfit of the Day post–last 3 days

Somehow I forgot to actually blog about my outfits the last few days, despite taking pictures of them! They’re not very exciting since it’s been pretty hot, which generally leads to me wearing boring flip-flops and no accessories.

June 29th. It was a hot day but not unbearably so.

Tank top: Target

Capris: Unionbay, via Kohl’s (I’ve had these since high school)

Sandals: Victoria’s Secret PINK

June 30th.

Tank top: H&M

Shorts: Target

Sandals: Born via Marshalls

Necklace: American Eagle

July 1st. When I woke up at 8:30 it was already in the 80s, both outside and in my bedroom, so I decided it was time to break out a dress.

Dress: American Eagle

Sandals: I didn’t leave them on in the picture, but I wore the same yellow flip-flops from PINK today.
