Green Eyeshadow Look

Green eyes look

I wasn’t wearing any makeup today since it was raining when I was leaving my apartment, but then in the evening I just felt like playing around. I came up with this look and I liked how it turned out so I figured I’d blog about it. I normally don’t do anything with my brows because 1) I’m lazy 2) I’m not convinced it looks sane, and 3) brow products of an appropriate color do not exist. Those things aside, please feel free to share your thoughts on my attempt at putting products in my brows.

I’m also trying a new way of putting the pictures together – let me know what you think!

For my eyes, I started with the Palladio eye primer, then put the NYX jumbo pencil in Milk on the lid and the one in Cherry on the crease. I used the white shadow from the Covergirl Drama Eyes quad on the lid and the NYX single eyeshadow in Cherry over the red. I used the Milani Infinite eyeliner in Infinite and Covergirl Lashblast waterproof mascara in Glam Black.

Look of the day: Rainbow eyes!

I forgot to write down the products I used on my face! I'm pretty sure I used the ELF Studio blush in Pink Passion, and I know that I used NYX Megashine lipgloss in La-La.
For this look, I started with Palladio eye primer, then put on NYX jumbo eye pencil in Yellow on the inner 1/3 of my lid and the jumbo eye pencil in Cherry on the rest of the lid. Next, I used NYX single eyeshadow in Yellow Funk on the inner 1/2 and NYX single eyeshadow in Cherry on the outer 1/2. I went over the line where they met with Jordana single eyeshadow in Luv2Shop.
For the bottom, I lined the inner 1/2 with NYX eyeliner in Acid Green and the outer 1/2 with the purple from the Physician's Formula gel creamliner trio for green eyes. I went over the green with the Covergirl single in Kelly Green and the purple is a shadow I got a few years ago from Merle Norman. It was part of a line called Luxiva. I have no idea what it's called or if it's still available. It's basically a shimmery lilac shade.
The blue eyeliner is the Milani Infinite liquid liner in Infinite.
I used L'Oreal Telescopic mascara in Carbon Black on my top and bottom lashes.
In order to clean up the outer edge, I wiped away the excess red with an Almay eye makeup remover pad that I folded in half to make a flat edge.

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette: Left Side

Besides primer and mascara, this eye look is entirely from the four shadows on the left side of the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette. I used them for the purpose that is stamped into each shadow, with the one labeled "Definer" as liner.
I used Palladio herbal eyeshadow primer and Maybelline The Colossal mascara in Glam Black.

I picked up the NYX Jumbo lip pencil in Soft Fuchsia on clearance at Urban Outfitters for $1.99 this week as well. I thought I would try it with this neutral look, but I just don't think it flatters my skin. I'll try using it with other products or looks because the product itself is really nice - it goes on so easily, very opaque, and feels really soft and moisturizing on the lips.

Look of the Day: 5/7/11

Crazy eyes! Took one with my lifting my eyebrows since it was the only way I could get the colors to really show with my eyes open.

Physician's Formula Haul and Review

Baked Collection - Baked Smokes

Top: dry, Bottom: wet.
Without flash.
Top: dry, Bottom: wet.
With flash.
I was really not impressed with these. They wiped off my hand right away without leaving any color behind, the color payoff wasn't great even when wet, and the colors weren't anything unique for my collection. I ended up returning it since I knew I would never use it.
Eyebrightener
Looks crazy but it's basically just a shimmery highlight shade for the browbone or inner corner. It works well for that. The packaging is ridiculously large; I depotted it immediately.
Healthy Wear Powder Foundations
Left: Translucent Light
Right: Translucent Medium
I had originally bought the Medium of the foundation because it was the lightest one my CVS ever had in stock so I thought it was the lightest...then I saw the light one! I took a photo comparing them before returning the medium one, which is obviously too dark for me! The light matches perfectly, though. I don't think these have any coverage, really, but with SPF 50 I use it as a powder on top of my foundation on days I plan to spend more time outside.

Physician's Formula Gel Creamliner Glam Brown Eyes Swatches and Review

I couldn't resist the 40% off sale at CVS and decided to get another one of the Gel Creamliner Trios, this time in Glam Brown Eyes. I don't usually do much with gold but I actually really love this trio. I think it made my green eyes pop more than the set for green eyes! I actually did a look using only these as my eye products, using the gold on the lid, the copper on the outer 1/3, and the black as liner. I was blown away at how well they lasted! I used a primer but did not top them with any powder eyeshadow and they looked the same at the end of the day! Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of that look, but I liked it enough that I'll probably do it again and photography it then!

Eyes:
Palladio Eye Primer
Physician's Formula Glam Blue Eyes Gel Creamliner - Silver (as a base on the whole lid)

Sonia Kashuk Gel Liner - Ebony

To show how longwearing the eye products are, the following photos were taken about 9 hours after the first set. The only product that really changed was the ELF Studio eyeshadow in Charcoal - the crease is hardly evident in the later pictures. Unfortunately the lighting is different on these so similarities and differences may not be that clear.

Physician's Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Liner Swatches

Gel Cream Liners - Glam Collection for Blue Eyes
Gel Cream Liners - Glam Collection for Hazel Eyes
Eyeliner Trio for Blue Eyes
Gel Cream Liners - for Green Eyes
The Gel Creamliners come in a stack that you can take apart into the individual containers if you want. The eyeliner pencils twist up and come with a tiny sharpener on the bottom, so you can maintain the sharpened point they come with. These last FOREVER on! I had them on my had probably 5-10 minutes and struggled to remove them with a regular makeup wipe. They last all day if you're wearing them and go on really creamy. I really recommend these.

Look of the Day: 4/16/11

Face Products:
Palladio Herbal Primer
Revlon Colorstay Foundation
NYX Concealer in a jar
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - Translucent
Milani Mai Tai Blush

Eye Products:
Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
NYX Jumbo Pencil - French Fries
Tarte Treasure Chest - Dark brown with glitter
L'Oreal HIP Duo - Sassy (the neutral not the teal)
Covergirl Trio - Shimmering Sands (lightest shade)
Sonia Kashuk - Black Gel Liner
L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara - Carbon Black

Lips:
Palladio Tinted Lip Balm - Rosey

The Sonia Kashuk gel liner and L'Oreal Telescopic mascara are two of my favorite eye products, and I really feel like they don't get the love they deserve! I've had both of them for a really long time and they are still going strong and they refuse to dry up and quit performing awesomely. Highly recommend both. :)

ELF Lip Stain - Birthday Suit Swatch

Lip stain on my lips (before I applied gloss)

The cream liner is very creamy and lasts well on my lids (I always set cream liner with powder; I haven’t tried it alone), however I do feel that it applies pretty sheer and takes a layer or two before it looks how I want it to. For $3, I’m not really complaining, though.

The lip stain is easy to apply, but takes a really long time to dry on the lips. Barely any gloss comes out each time I remove the wand, I need to re-dip the wand several times to get anything on my lips! As a result of too little product, I have noticed that it can sometimes pull the stain color back off with it. I’ve had much better luck when I just use the stain and then a different gloss. I definitely do not recommend using this product if you have dry lips as it can settle into flakey areas and highlight them, which no one wants! I do love the color. Pale pink is pretty much my nude, after all.
