Wet n Wild - Flora & Fauna Collections

Fauna Collection

Flora Collection
Saw these at CVS tonight and somehow they just magically ended up in my basket...
Honestly, the only thing I like in the entire Fauna set is the turquoise-y shadow. I was so disappointed by the purple! It looks so pretty in the pan but it swatches horribly - so little pigmentation! Which I don't understand since they're clearly able to make properly pigmented shadows...I already have the blush that color, although the small size is nice for travel. I'm really pleased with the Flora set, though! Although I doubt I'll use either of the lipglosses.

Have you seen this around? What do you think of them?

Mini CVS haul, review, and face of the day

Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Quad - Inspired
Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick - Spellbound, Eternal
Face of the Day using the Revlon quad over Palladio primer and the Covergirl lipstick in Spellbound. (among other products, but those are the new ones)

I love the lipsticks - I have two others that I've had for quite awhile so I knew I liked the formula, and these colors are so pretty! The eyeshadow quad is so disappointing, though. The colors look so lovely and vibrant in the pan but just barely come off. You can't even tell I used the green at all, and the blue is after trying to pack on several layers. I should have known better considering how poorly pigmented the Revlon quads in the older packaging were, but I hoped the formula would be different as well as the packaging and color choices.

This haul was extremely affordable! Covergirl products were buy one get one 50% off and I had a $2.50 off two Covergirl products coupon from the newspaper. Beyond that, when I scanned my card at the machine, I had $5 extrabucks from the Beauty Club, $4.50 in extrabucks from something else, and a $5 off of $25 coupon that I'd put on my card from the website. After all that, I paid less than $3!

Even though the quad was essentially free, I'm still going to return it and get something else instead. Why keep something around that I'm not going to get any use out of? I'd rather try some other new products instead.

Target/CVS Haul

Target haul: Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Fuchsia, on clearance for  $1.94
Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow - Pomegranate Punk - $5.99
Since I have kind of an obsession with hot pink lipsticks, I've had my eye on this particular one from Revlon for awhile, but was hoping it'd go on sale at CVS. It wasn't there, so when I found it on clearance at Target I knew I had to get it! Plus I gave in and got one of the Tattoo shadows from Maybelline because I was curious about them.
CVS clearance haul: Wet n Wild Greed Palette - $2.49, Revlon Colorstay Aqua mineral finishing powder - $3.49, Physician's Formula Organic Wear Bronzer & Blush - Light Bronzer/Soft Ginger - $3.75, Sally Hansen Natural Beauty cream blush - Bloom - $2.37
Since they're 50% off I finally got the last 6-pan palette from Wet n Wild. The other products I know basically nothing about but I'd been curious about them and for the prices I decided to try them.
If any of you have tried any of these I'd love to hear your thoughts or how you use them! Especially the cream blush as I've never used a cream blush before and don't really know what to expect!

October: Haul and Swatches

ELF glitter eye Beauty Book from Target
Wet n Wild I <3 Matte palette from Walgreens

Milk of Magnesia (to use as a primer) - I am really loving this!
L'Oreal go 360 cleanser for sensitive skin - I don't have sensitive skin but I love this because I can put it over my eyes and it doesn't burn at all, which makes it easier to get all the makeup off.
Bottom left photo: Wet n Wild blushes in Pearlescent Pink and Heather Silk.
Middle set (from CVS) L-R: Milani Infinite liner, Miliani Liquif'eye liner, (accidentally switched the order of the eyeliner swatches but the lipsticks are in the right order) Milani HD Advanced Lip Color in Vivacious Fuchsia, Wet n Wild lipstick in 908C
The lipstick on the right is Rimmel Lasting Finish in In Vogue - LOVE this color! I found this at Walgreens.

If you have any questions on my thoughts on any of these products, let me know! I'd love to know what you think about any of them too.

CVS Haul and Review- 5.24.11

Products I got:
Wet n Wild Glassy Gloss (clear)
Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick - 860 Rosette
Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara - waterproof
Essie nail polish - Coat Azure
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze - 542 Continuous Coral
Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat
Revlon nail polish - Oh My Magenta
Revlon Top Speed nail polish - Guava

Total cost: $23.45. Total savings: $32.08.

L-R: Guava, Oh My Magenta, Coat Azure

I've used Guava and Coat Azure on my nails so far and they are both gorgeous! I left both on my nails for several days - which must mean I love the color, since I usually change polish pretty often! They apply beautifully, also - even and opaque.
Guava is a creme finish, while the other two have shimmer.

L-R: Rosette, Continuous Coral

I haven't worn the lipstick out yet, but I have used the lipglaze and I really like it! It feels really nice and smooth and it's pretty longwearing, plus it has amazing pigmentation! I also like the packaging, as it's not unnecessarily bulky.

Since my clear Jordana lipgloss exploded all over my stuff several weeks ago, I got the Wet n Wild as a replacement. It's your standard clear gloss, and it's less sticky than the Jordana, which is definitely a plus.
The Sexy Curves mascara has become one of my favorites!! I like the way my lashes look with it, plus it's waterproof but still easy to remove! I think that will officially make me quit using my Covergirl Lashblast, since I only used it because it was waterproof, but it is impossible to remove!
I also really like the Revlon base coat. It does dry really fast! When painting my nails, I always do one hand, than the other, and by the time I've finished the second hand the first one is dry! With other base coats I would have to wait a bit for it to be completely dry.

Physician's Formula Gel Creamliner Glam Brown Eyes Swatches and Review

I couldn't resist the 40% off sale at CVS and decided to get another one of the Gel Creamliner Trios, this time in Glam Brown Eyes. I don't usually do much with gold but I actually really love this trio. I think it made my green eyes pop more than the set for green eyes! I actually did a look using only these as my eye products, using the gold on the lid, the copper on the outer 1/3, and the black as liner. I was blown away at how well they lasted! I used a primer but did not top them with any powder eyeshadow and they looked the same at the end of the day! Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of that look, but I liked it enough that I'll probably do it again and photography it then!

Covergirl Lipstick–Temptress Swatches

Covergirl Lipstick - Temptress (4)

Covergirl Lipstick - Temptress (3)

Covergirl Lipstick - Temptress (2)Covergirl Lipstick - Temptress

I had some Covergirl coupons and some CVS extrabucks so I picked up this lipstick today. I love pink lips and this one was in between the very pale and very bright pinks I have. Although it feels a bit drying on its own, it wears pretty well and I love the color, so overall I am not disappointed.

Milani Nail Polishes

My collection of Milani Nail Polishes! I’ve gotten all of mine from CVS. I think these are really nice polishes with great payoff. The one-coat glitters are definitely gritty and require a topcoat so it doesn’t feel like you have sandpaper nails! The holographic ones are really awesome as well. Of the three I have, I think Hi-Tech (the green one) has the best holographic effect. The nail art polish is very easy to use; I have used it to do my tips multiple times.

Almay Wake up Makeup - Review

IMG_8235IMG_8236

I was curious about this new makeup from Almay so I picked one up from CVS. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing and I ended up returning it a few days later. Not only is there hardly any coverage, but this powder is glittery! It’s very unflattering and strange looking to have glitter all over the face! I did think it was interesting how the product felt moist even though it was a powder, but I really don’t think it did anything good for the appearance or feeling of my skin. The one thing I did really like was the brush. I wish this was sold separately because I think it would work really well as a foundation brush. The hairs are very densely packed and it’s a good length of hairs. It would be perfect for travel since it gets so compact and protects its hairs. However, I did not feel that the awesome brush was worth keeping a $12 powder I would never use!

L’Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duos

Here are some swatches of L’Oreal HIP Eyeshadow duos. Some of these I picked up during the CVS clearance and others I had already.

L'Oreal Hip Shadow Swatches 1

Flamboyant and Adventurous. I’ve had these awhile and have depotted them. The yellow is fantastic – easy to use and has really great color payoff. The beige is pretty good, but it’s fairly close to my skin tone, so it mostly adds a little shimmer, which is nice. I really can’t get either the pink or purple to show up much, which is disappointing.

L'Oreal Hip Shadow Swatches 2

L-R: Cheeky, Charisma, Reckless

The only real disappointment out of these three is the dark purple in Charisma. It just doesn’t show up well. The lighter purple in Reckless also looks much cooler – almost as though it has a duochrome effect – in the pan than swatched. It’s still a good color, but it looks different. However, the rest are pretty awesome. Cheeky is one of my favorites.

L'Oreal Hip Shadow Swatches 3

L-R: Devious, Sassy, Flashy.

These are ALL amazing. The light shade in Flashy is too close to my skin color to really show up, but works well as a highlight or cleanup in a look. Sassy is definitely my favorite of all the ones I have. Both colors show up amazingly well and are different than anything else in my collection. Devious is nice as well, especially the coppery color. I have green eyes and I think it compliments them nicely.

L’Oreal HIP Shine Struck Liquid Lip Color

During the big clearance at CVS, I picked up three of these (I already had one). They have a very nice feel, soft and not sticky, and they wear pretty well. They also have fantastic color payoff.

IMG_7861

L-R: Euphoric, Arresting, Tainted, Zealous

L'Oreal HIP lip swatches

Euphoric is by far the least pigmented, but it still shows up nicely. With the darker shades, it’s easy to vary how dark they are. I was afraid I’d never wear Tainted, but it’s lovely applied in a thinner coat and can be built up to achieve the color in the swatch depending on your preference.

Long story short: I highly recommend these!
